Pineapple, Turmeric, Ginger & Cherry Drink To Help With Gout

Gout is a painful form of arthritis that results from the build up of too much uric acid in the body. Numerous needle–like crystals are formed in the body’s connective tissue or deposited in the joints, most often in the big toe.

The toe becomes sore, warm, red and swollen. Gout attack often wakes a person from sleep in the middle of the night.

Preventing Gout Attack

There can be various reasons of having high level of uric acid in the body which causes gout. It could be genetic predisposition, diet and under-excretion of uric acid. For excretion of uric acid from the body and preventing gout attacks, it is necessary to maintain adequate fluid intake.

Following healthy drinks can help you to stay well hydrated and prevent gout attacks through their natural healing properties. The ingredients that can help fight gout symptoms include pineapple, turmeric, ginger root and cherry.

How Pineapple, Ginger, Cherry And Turmeric Help With Gout?

Pineapple contains bromelain – an enzyme which has anti-inflammatory qualities and is known to reduce inflammation. It also stimulates the decomposition of uric acid crystals and hence, helps to alleviate the pain associated with gout. Bromelain is also an enzyme that aids in the digestion of protein and we know that a diet high in protein often leads to excess uric acid build up in the blood.

Turmeric contains curcumin, an antioxidant that helps to fight free radicals that damage the cells in the body. Curcumin, an active ingredient in turmeric, can reduce pain and swelling associated with gout by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins that cause pain. Its antioxidant properties can reduce inflammation and pain. The yellow color that turmeric has also comes from curcumin.

Ginger Root

Gingerols, the active component in the ginger root, can help to reduce the production of enzymes that cause inflammation. Gingerols, just like capsaicin, helps to inhibit the signals that are sent to the brain that causes pain.

Tart Cherry Juice

Some studies have shown evidence that cherries can lower the levels of uric acid in the blood. A research carried out by Boston University in US shows that eating cherries for two days can help to prevent gout attacks. Though extensive research is needed, it has been assumed that cherries are safe and effective in eliminating pain and inflammation very fast and prevent recurrence of gout attack by keeping the uric acid level in check when consumed regularly.

Not only raw cherries, but cooked cherries or cherry extract can help with gout as well.

How To Use?

To get the full benefit of these ingredients for treating gout, you can blend pineapple, ginger, turmeric and cherry together and tap their natural healing potential. For preparing a drink that can help to relieve you from symptoms of gout you will need the following ingredients.
