1. Ginger

The natural anti inflammatory spice ‘Ginger’ is immensely useful in managing arthritis. Eating raw ginger on daily basis alleviates the pain by enhancing blood circulation at the affected joint. Peel and slice the raw ginger and eat it along with every meal. Secondly, ginger oil can be rubbed over the painful joints to reduce inflammation, stiffness and pain.

Turmeric is loaded with curcumin, another anti inflammatory agent that aids in lowering inflammation at the joints on regular consumption of turmeric. It is majorly effective when dealing with rheumatoid arthritis. Turmeric also possesses antibacterial and antiseptic properties that kill bacteria that could be the cause of arthritis and safeguards from attack by other microorganisms.

The most convenient way is to add 1 teaspoon of turmeric to glass of warm milk and drink it. One can add honey to it too and instead of milk, turmeric powder can be added to warm water and honey, to get relieved from symptoms of arthritis. Prepare the apple cider vinegar solution by taking 1 cup of warm water and adding 1 teaspoon both of honey and apple cider vinegar to it. Have this solution in the morning time on daily basis, to impart an alkalizing effect that helps in cleansing of the body.

4. Epsom Salt

For several inflammatory diseases like arthritis that are caused due to increased acidity levels, magnesium is very crucial for balancing of pH levels in the body. Epsom salt is the rich source of magnesium that helps in regulating pH levels in arthritis sufferers. In half a cup of water, mix equal amounts of Epsom salt and lemon juice. Swallow this Epsom salt water two times in a day, once in morning and second at night.

Additionally, soak yourself in Epsom salt water prepared by mixing 4 cups of Epsom salt in bearable hot bathwater for 15 to 20 minutes and get relief from pain and inflammation. Those with hand or finger arthritis should soak their hands in warm water mixed with 2 handfuls of Epsom salt, one handful of rock salt and little juniper and fennel oil for 15 minutes on daily basis, to reduce hand stiffness.

5. Olive Oil

Olive oil constitutes a compound called as oleocanthal that prevents production of pro-inflammatory COX 1 and COX 2 enzymes. Hence, use of olive oil in regular cooking reduces inflammation and pain of arthritis. Even olive oil can be used for massaging the affected joints. For massaging, mix warm lavender and olive oil and then apply and massage over the painful joints with gentle strokes, to overcome discomfort and swelling.

6. Mustard Oil

Mustard oil stimulates blood flow and reduces inflammation of joints. Just heat a little mustard oil and add an equal amount of onion juice. Now rub this mixture over the swollen and painful joint and wrap it with a plastic cover and put warm towels on top of that. Perform this mustard oil application on daily basis, just before going to bed for the maximum relief. Alternatively, eucalyptus or wintergreen oil can also be rubbed over the joint, but for these oils hot compresses are not required.

7. Castor Oil

Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid that possess analgesic, antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties and hence, is beneficial for relieving arthritis pain. Just take some amount of castor oil and rub over the joint and massage gently for 2 times in a day and get rid of pain. Alternatively, one can boil 2 teaspoons of castor oil and mix it with 1 glass of fresh orange juice. Have this juice before breakfast on daily basis and observe improved health of the joints that have been immensely painful once.

Cherries are excellent source of potassium and magnesium that are beneficial for improving health of arthritis patients. Potassium aids in lowering joint inflammation and magnesium serves as a natural painkiller. Consume 10 cherries on daily basis or drink cherry syrup. Cherry syrup can be made by boiling around 20 to 30 cherries in water for several minutes, till strong and sweet tasting syrup is made.
