Infant diarrhoea is a common childhood problem (a matter of concern for most new parents), especially for toddlers below the age of two. The stool of infants during this condition are loose, watery, unformed and frequent that occur more than three times a day. Diarrhoea in infants and toddlers results in severe dehydration, malnutrition and sometimes inflammation in skin, eyes or even bones. The condition can arise due to a virus or bacterial infection, contaminated surfaces, bed sheets , certain dietary changes, an antibiotic or during teething. In case of mild diarrhoea, a simple ORS (oral rehydration solution) is very effective. The problem generally clears within few days and can be treated at home but its better to consult the paediatrician as well. Read the following article for some useful tips.
