This causes red, itchy blisters on the affected person’s body. 1. Take Hot Shower:

The moment you realize you have been beaten by chigger mites, take hot shower. Use a mild soap on your skin. This will help them detach from the skin before they latch on to the skin and start drilling. This will help to reduce intense itching[1]

2. Apply Ice:

Apply ice packs to get relief from itch fast. It will help prevent swelling also. Numbing the affected area ice pack will bring relief from discomfort. [2]But do not apply ice directly to the skin. This could cause frost bites. Put some ice cubes in a muslin cloth or plastic bag and apply on the affected areas.

Most mouthwash contains anti-fungal and anti-itch ingredients and also contained menthol which brings cooling effect on the bites. Oatmeal is a great home remedy for neutralizing the allergic reaction caused to the skin from chigger bites.[8] Cook some oatmeal as you normally cook for eating. Allow it to cool and scrub the affected area with oatmeal. Wash off with fresh water.


9. Epsom Salt:

Epsom salt cleanses and detoxes the body of bacteria and toxins. They can bring relief from itching and swelling almost instantly. In a tub of warm water add 1 cup of Epsom salt and stir well to dissolve the salt.[9] Soak your body in this bath water for 15-20 minutes to get relief.

10. Tea Bags:

The tannic acid contained in tea has anti-inflammatory effect. They help to suppress itching and reduce pain and inflammation. Soak tea bags and refrigerate then for 10-15 minutes to cool. Apply these cool tea bags on the bites to reduce itching, pain and the marks.[10]

Repeat these procedures 2-3 times a day until the symptoms completely disappears.
